“The next pillar that I would like to talk about is Humility. I believe that a large part of being a humble, down to earth person is having a willingness to serve your community. Throughout our reign, Kharisma, Avalon, and I have had so many amazing opportunities to volunteer and help others. Having an impact on someone’s life, no matter big or small is an incredible feeling. My advice to anyone reading this is to go out and volunteer! I truly believe that I have grown and developed so much as a person through being an active member of our community. Nothing compares to the feeling of helping others!”-Queen Mara

“Hello! I’m Hopkins Raspberry Festival Queen Mara Lien and I’d like to share a bit about one of our pillars, Teamwork. Whether it be something as small as helping someone get their hair in place or as large as working together on our crown project, Teamwork is a skill that Kharisma, Avalon, and I are constantly practicing. I believe that being a team player and learning to collaborate with others is one of the most important skills one can have. Everyone has their own unique strengths, perspectives, and pieces of knowledge that they bring to the table and can utilize to help achieve a common goal. Listening to what others have to contribute not only helps achieve something faster, but also helps one learn and grow as a person. One person alone can only do so much, but put together multiple people with their diverse skill sets and an immense amount of positive attitude, change can be created. Teamwork can change the world.”-Queen Mara

“Princess Kharisma and I danced the night away at the Enchanted Stars Dance! We connected with Hopkins youth by making crafts, indulging in some yummy cupcakes, singing our hearts out, and of course dancing like nobody was watching.

This was by far my favorite event yet because I believe my Purpose in life is working with children. Nothing in the world brings me more joy than being around kids. All of the kids that Kharisma and I met were so incredibly kind, creative, and fun loving.

At one point during the night, a group of girls led me over to the food and drink table, grabbed a napkin, a cupcake, and a drink for me, led me to a table, pulled my chair out for me, and sat with me as I ate my cupcake. This moment really touched me because it was such a kind act that they all collectively agreed to do. They all worked together to make me feel cared for which is admirable. Moments like that confirm to me that working with kids is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Thank you so much to Hopkins Community Education for putting on this fabulous event! There was so much time and effort put into making this dance memorable for these young girls and their family members.”-Queen Mara

Representing the Hopkins Raspberry Festival comes with having the opportunity to connect with the community and learn more about the surrounding areas and their stories! Witnessing the positive impact we’ve had, particularly on young girls who light up and find inspiration through our efforts to facilitate change in and around the community, adds even more depth to the definition of Purpose. These pillars are first introduced during candidacy and then continue to be our focus during the Royal year. Starting next week Princess Avalon, Princess Kharisma and Queen Mara will be sharing with you how they have incorporated these pillars throughout their year so far!

“Queen Mara and I had an amazing time at our first Timberwolves game while supporting the team and representing our community! We learned a lot during our moments of howling and screaming “Defense” throughout the game, and we walked out with such a memorable experience.

When I saw the players' communication and initiative to include other team players while also staying grounded in their potential, it reminded me of my Royal Family as well as our pillars of Teamwork and Purpose. Staying true to your strengths and values and getting back up after brushing off the dust when you fall, reminds me of how important it is to stay true to your potential and purpose. While also appreciating the purpose, values and potential of others, we can make a resilient team, just like the Timberwolves!

“The St. Paul Winter Carnival Visiting Ambassado

“The St. Paul Winter Carnival Visiting Ambassador weekend was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had! I met so many amazing girls that are unique and talented in their own authentic way. We bonded through painting, exploring the Minnesota museum, and taking pictures with snow sculptures!

Our five pillars of leadership are Purpose, Integrity, Teamwork, Courage, and Humility. Between all of our activities all of these were shown, however Teamwork and Courage really shined in all of us.

With painting as our first activity, we all took the initiative to put ourselves out there and get to know each other. We all had our own ideas and seeing all of us come together with our own visions and uplifting one another was a great example of how our own success will be different than others and it’s important to support one another through our journeys.

I’m so incredibly grateful to have spent the past weekend with everyone, and I am so excited to see the newly crowned St. Paul Winter Carnival Royal Family embark on this journey!

“Happy New Year! I had so much fun at the Noon Y

“Happy New Year! I had so much fun at the Noon Year’s Eve event at the Hopkins Activity Center getting to know members of the community. We mingled, played trivia, ate delicious appetizers, and at the end counted down to noon and sang Auld Lang Syne to bring in the “noon” year!

One of our pillars, Teamwork, was definitely displayed as we were playing trivia. Those questions were not easy, but it was fun to watch as each person contributed a unique bit of knowledge. Working together as a team proved to be effective in finding the right answer.

I wish you all an amazing 2024, and I can’t wait to see what this year brings for Kharisma, Avalon, and I as we go into the last half of our reign!”-Queen Mara

“I can’t help but fall more in love with the H

“I can’t help but fall more in love with the Hopkins community with every hometown event.

To kick off the Holiday season, we got to share our holiday cheer during Holiday in Hopkins! The day was filled with Santa and Mrs. Claus, horse drawn carriages, caroling, and my personal favorite Barry Berry.

We also had the honor of making the s’more kits for the ICA Food Drive fundraiser. Community members could donate non perishable goods and receive a s’mores kit to enjoy around the fire. We used our Teamwork to individually pack them with love. Kharisma on graham crackers, Mara on chocolate, and then myself adding the marshmallow. After that, we got to walk down Mainstreet to the tree lighting at Central Park where we used Courage to sing carols and talk on stage! After the tree was lit, we saw the kids light up with joy for the holiday season! Huge shoutout to all of the volunteers who welcomed us at each of the events!”-Princess Avalon
